Our History
Our Company was founded by three close friends (Mr. Kamil BOZKURT, Mr.Recep Cevdet KÄ°RTETEPE and Mr. Ali Ä°hsan ZAHTER) with their passion to manufacture drill rigs in 1980 .
Before Gemsa found , they served well known Sweden brand company around 10 years. Mr. Cevdet was general manager in Turkey office, as looking after mining side, Mr. Kamil was in service department, looking after surface rigs and Mr. Ali Ä°hsan was in compressor side, also expert on material manufacturing processes. On those years, they wanted to manufacture their own design small, DTH , rock blasting drill rig in Turkey under the name of Sweden company. But at that times it was not possible.
Their passion and ideas force them to start manufacturing drill rigs in Ä°stanbul, Turkey under Gemsa. At an early stage , they rent small workshop and worked together to build first drill rig.
Business grow up rapidly after second drill rig manufactured. Gemsa's family become more strong, after two more partner and two consultant joined the team. Mr.Yavuz ŞENGÖZ as partner looked after material supply , and local sales. Mr. Ergun İSMİHANOĞLU as partner, looked after accounting department. Mr. Ömer Yılmaz ERKOÇ as consultant , was an expert on drilling and blasting technic and Mr.Kamil Yüzsever support Gemsa as export department manager .
In1987 , Gemsa’s first factory build in İstanbul , Hadımköy. Production line and product range increased day by day. On those years Gemsa became not only local supplier but also become an exporter manufacturing company. Operations focused on high quality and added value, investments in R&D, close contact with customers, and exports. This is a strategy that has remained unchanged through the years.
After years passed, unfortunately , Mr. Cevdet, Mr. Kamil YÜZSEVER , Mr. Ömer and Mr. Yavuz passed away due to health problems. Mr. Ali İhsan and Mr. Ergun decided to retire.
They even though passed away, or retired , they became immortal for Gemsa , and thanks to the engineering legacy they left behind.
2024, Today Gemsa keep manufacturing drill rigs and drill equipments under control of Mr. Kamil BOZKURT, in new factory based in Ä°stanbul ,Deliklikaya. We keep serving our customers in more than 86 countries with products and service focused on maximizing operator safety, high productivity with energy efficiency, and ergonomics.
Our wide range products is suited for a variety of applications, from underground to surface, including mineral exploration, mining, water well and energy, as well as infrastructure reinforcement and development. Every day, we are put to work providing efficient, cost-effective solutions to every type of drilling operation.
